If the Chiefs win, they would be the first team to complete a super bowl repeat since Tom Brady’s New England Patriots did it 16 years ago. So, who better to stop the Chiefs from doing that than a 6-times super bowl champion Tom Brady himself?
As dominant as Kansas City chiefs were coming to the super bowl, they had their weaknesses. The Chiefs, who were used to dominating games were struggling to make plays, their offensive lines were missing key players and it was evident. They looked more as individuals than as a team, which was not the case with the Bucs. After a good start to the season, a rough patch midway and then getting better games after games, they were more solid than ever. The Bucs did not let the Chiefs breathe, exploited all the weaknesses, and took every opportunity they got. The Bucs were so superior that Mahomes did not just have the worst game of his NFL career but the worst game of his career. “This is the worst I've been beaten in a long time,” He said after the game.
The Bucs were the first team ever to play the Super Bowl on their home field and they won it in style. Brady became the first to ever win 7 Super Bowl championships and also collected his 5th MVP trophy. Tom Brady has already cemented his place as one of the greatest athletes of all time and the legacy he has left behind will take something special to beat. The one positive Mahomes can take from this is that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not rely on individual brilliance and performed more as a team than the Kansas City Chiefs. Will Mahomes be worth the hype and be able to deliver success as long as Tom Brady has been doing it is something we will have to wait and watch.
